Volunteers
Every year in our area, hundreds of children are removed from their homes and placed in the foster care system because of severe abuse and neglect, or even abandonment. For most of these children, they will lose hope, and feel as if their life has come to a deadend, even before it has begun.

A national organization, Royal Family Kids' Camp (RFKC) developed week-long camps for abused, neglected, and abandoned children who have been placed in foster care. For many of these children, their week at RFKC is the first time ever in their lives they have felt security, warmth, and love from dedicated adult caregivers. Lake City Community Church has sponsored and operated such a camp for the past four years, and eagerly looks forward to its 5^th year. When children arrive at RFKC they are assigned a caring counselor, along with a surrogate “grandma” and “grandpa” and “aunt” and “uncle.” For many of these campers, this is their first experience of how a real family functions. They discover self-worth, and a feeling of success as they accomplish projects and make friends.

How can you help
You can lend a hand and help abused and neglected children. This can be done by volunteering your time or helping financially.

Volunteering your time – We invite you to consider being a counselor at this year’s camp. Training is not overwhelming, but is important. The week that you spend reaching out to abused children will not only make you a hero in their eyes, but will provide you with beautiful and fulfilling memories for a lifetime and the joy that you have made a difference to a needy child. There may be a few support positions for the week of camp, and some opportunities to serve before and after camp. We also would appreciate help, if you have the gift. to work in fundraising and grant writing.

Helping financially – Royal Family Kid’s Camp is completely free to campers. It costs $350 per camper to put on the camp. The camp is totally dependent on community support and individuals donating scholarships to fund the camp. If you or your organization would like to support RFKC, you may send your donations to Lake City Community Church. If writing checks, make it out to LCCC and write "RFKC" on the memo line. Below are a few of the of the donation options we are seeking:

• Full scholarship to send child to camp $350
• Partial scholarship to send child to camp $175
• Activities and recreation $100
• T-shirts and memory bag contents $50

Albertsons Community Partner Program – If you shop at Albertsons, this is a program where they will donate up to 5%, based on your purchases to RFKC. This does not cost you anything. It is as simple as going online and linking your “Preferred Card” to the program. This program has been a huge success and can be even more successful with increased participation. Below are the instructions:

Steps to go online and register your Albertsons Preferred Savings Card:

Through 2-28-09

1. Go to www.albertsonscp.com
2. Click on enter and register your Preferred Savings Card
3. Enter your Preferred Card # twice and hit submit
4. Enter information requested (kept confidential) and click the submit button
5. Enter our organization #: 49001005376 and click the find button.
6. Click the add button next to Lake City Community Church rfk camp
7. Sign out.

Starting 3-01-09

1. Go to www.albertsons.com ; @ bottom, click on in “In the Community”.
2. Click on the “Albertsons Community Partner” logo (on the right)
3. Click on “Shoppers Login”; enter your Preferred Savings Card number along with the 10 digit phone number* linked to you card; click on “Add a Partner”.
4. Click on “Sign Me Up” in the center of the page.
5. Now, enter RFKC’s organization #: 49001005376
6. Exit

*Often the card # will not match the phone # (for various reasons) and you will not be able to register online. You can call Albertsons at (877) 932-7948 for assistance. If you do not know your Preferred Card #, you can have the checker enter your phone number at the time of check–out and ask her to write it down for you. Important Information for Staff

Camp Dates (for staff): June 14-19
Where: Cocolalla Bible Camp (25 miles north of here)
Cost: No charge for adults, $75 fee (or equal service in a ministry) for Royal Teen Volunteers (RTV)

Meetings (all are important and mandatory)
Informational meeting: March 1, 2009, 1pm in the Fellowship Hall ( RTV’s not required)

Royal Teen Volunteers only meeting: TBA

Organizational meeting: April 7, 2009, 7pm in the Fellowship Hall

Training Day: May 2, 2009 (meet at Lake City Community Church @ 8:30 am, should be back by 7:00 pm)
